Islamabad – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a public safety alert, warning citizens against the rising misuse of fake WhatsApp accounts designed to mislead, scam, and steal personal data from unsuspecting users.

According to the PTA, scammers are sending fraudulent messages via WhatsApp, claiming that users’ accounts will be suspended due to policy violations. These messages include suspicious links disguised as “security verification” prompts.

The PTA stated that these messages are being circulated from both local and international numbers, giving the appearance of legitimacy. However, it clarified that WhatsApp never sends such notifications and urged the public to remain vigilant.
