Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will end negotiations with the federal government unless a judicial commission is formed today to investigate the May 9 riots and November 26 protests.

Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail after meeting with Imran Khan, PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated that Imran Khan had directed the party to continue talks, even if a three-member judges’ commission is established to probe the incidents. However, the party has made it clear that talks will be called off if the judicial commission is not announced promptly.

The government’s negotiation committee, led by Irfan Siddiqui, has assured PTI that a written response to their demand for the formation of a judicial commission will be provided by January 28. The response will address PTI’s specific requests, including an investigation into the May 9 riots.

The government committee is still reviewing PTI’s demands and seeking legal opinions. While no final decision has been made on the judicial commission, consultations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, PTI has confirmed that it will not participate in the fourth round of talks with the government unless the judicial commission is formed as requested. Omar Ayub, head of PTI’s negotiating committee, reiterated that the party would refuse to engage in further discussions until the commission is announced.
