A resolution demanding the banning of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was introduced in the Punjab Assembly by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Hina Pervaiz Butt. The resolution strongly condemned PTI’s actions, particularly the party’s involvement in violent protests and alleged attacks on the Federation.

The resolution accuses PTI’s leadership, including the provincial chief executive and the former first lady, of orchestrating and leading these assaults. It highlights the chaos caused by organised mobs, claiming that rioters injured police officers, set vehicles on fire, and caused widespread destruction to public property.

The resolution describes the attacks as part of a conspiracy of national assets. It further alleges that PTI’s protests, which took place over a single day, led to significant economic losses of PKR 190 billion.

In light of these events, the resolution calls for immediate action against PTI, labelling the party as an extremist organisation, and urges the government to prevent further harm and ensure public safety. The motion has sparked considerable debate within the provincial assembly, with many officials expressing support for the demand to ban the party while others raise concerns about the broader implications of such a move.
