Punjab cabinet approves salary increases for parliamentarians

LAHORE: The Punjab Cabinet has approved a significant increase in the salaries of parliamentarians, a decision that will now be presented to the provincial assembly for final approval.
Following the cabinet’s approval, the salary of each Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) will be raised to Rs. 500,000. Additionally, the salaries of special assistants and advisors will be increased to Rs. 700,000, while parliamentary secretaries will receive Rs. 600,000.
Provincial ministers will now earn Rs. 1 million, and the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly will also receive a salary of Rs. 1 million, with the Deputy Speaker’s salary set at Rs. 800,000.
The approval was granted during the cabinet’s previous meeting as an item of the agenda, and the bill will now be presented in the upcoming Punjab Assembly session for approval.
