Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz announces merit-based loans under the ‘Apna Ghar’ program

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that loans under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program will be granted purely based on merit. In a statement released on Sunday, she highlighted that those receiving loans of up to Rs1.5 million will only be required to repay the principal amount in affordable monthly installments of Rs14,000 over nine years.
The “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative has seen significant progress, with over 5,000 houses nearing completion. In phase two of the program, the construction of homes has begun, with loans being provided to further accelerate the housing project.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the verification of applications received through the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” portal is being conducted by three independent microfinance institutions.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set ambitious goals for the program, with ambitions to build 100,000 residences in a year and 500,000 in five years. She emphasized the need of attaining these goals in order to provide Punjab residents with affordable housing.
The “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” project is part of the government’s efforts to address housing shortages and improve living standards across the province.
