Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz announces new development projects and scholarships in Okara

OKARA: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has announced several key development projects during her visit to Okara, including the establishment of a medical college, a girls’ hostel, and an underpass to further enhance the city’s infrastructure.

 

While addressing a gathering at the University of Okara, she also showcased the laptops purchased for students, designed to support their educational journey. The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her commitment to completing the ongoing university projects under her supervision and emphasised her dedication to the welfare of students.

Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of the “Honhaar Scholarship,” which is set to be the largest scholarship initiative in Pakistan’s history, aimed at supporting deserving students. She also revealed plans to distribute laptops and e-bikes to students to ease their academic and commuting challenges. She vowed to personally distribute the laptops to students who are unable to afford them, reaffirming that no student should miss out on education due to financial constraints.

The Chief Minister stated, “Okara is a beautiful city, very close to my heart, and it gives me immense joy to see the bright and talented students here. Education should be accessible to all, and I will continue to work towards making sure no child in Punjab is left behind.”

Addressing the students, she encouraged them to focus entirely on their careers and assured them that her government would provide all the necessary resources to help them realise their dreams. Maryam Nawaz emphasised the importance of merit, saying that the scholarship initiative would be based solely on merit and no discrimination would be tolerated.

“Your commitment and diligence are the cornerstone of this country.”. The future of Pakistan lies in your hands, and I will continue to support you every step of the way,” she added.

She also reiterated that scholarships would be available for second and third-year students, with plans to extend this opportunity to 50,000 students next year. The Chief Minister emphasized that Punjab’s future depends on the youth, urging them to pledge loyalty to their country and uphold its values.
