Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz meets Japanese ambassador to strengthen bilateral cooperation

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held an important meeting with Japan’s ambassador to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral relations, trade cooperation, and investment opportunities across various sectors.

The meeting focused on strengthening economic ties between Pakistan and Japan, with both leaders emphasising the importance of finding new ways to collaborate and boost bilateral trade and investment. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her gratitude for Japan’s unwavering support during the 2022 floods in Pakistan, acknowledging the significant assistance extended by Japan during Pakistan’s challenging times.

Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi invited CM Maryam Nawaz to visit Japan, an invitation that was graciously accepted by the chief minister. He also commended her development initiatives and the continuity of public welfare projects established by her father, former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and former Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the discussion, CM Maryam Nawaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering robust ties with Japan, emphasising the deep-rooted and friendly relationship shared between the two nations. She assured Japanese investors of full support and security in Punjab, particularly in key sectors such as agriculture, minerals, IT, artificial intelligence, robotics, and energy.

She further expressed the desire for enhanced collaboration with Japan in these strategic areas, aiming to promote innovation and economic development in Punjab.
