New Winter School Timings for Educational Institutions

Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced new winter timings for all public and private schools across the province. These revised hours came into effect on October 16, 2025, and will continue until March 31, 2026, as announced by the School Education Department.

According to the new schedule, boys’ single-shift schools will operate from 8:45 am to 2:45 pm from Monday to Thursday, while Friday classes will end earlier at 12:30 pm. Girls’ single-shift schools will run from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, with Friday sessions concluding at 12:15 pm.

For boys’ double-shift schools, the morning shift will be from 8:45 am to 12:45 pm (Monday to Thursday) and until 12:30 pm on Fridays. The afternoon shift will start at 1:00 pm and finish at 5:00 pm during weekdays, ending earlier at 2:00 pm on Fridays.

Similarly, girls’ double-shift schools will hold their morning shift from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm (Monday to Thursday) and until 12:15 pm on Fridays. The afternoon shift timings will be from 12:45 pm to 4:45 pm on weekdays and 1:45 pm to 4:45 pm on Fridays.

The government emphasized that these changes are designed to adjust for seasonal variations and help maintain an effective academic schedule during the winter months. Schools have been instructed to adhere to the new timings to ensure smooth functioning and maximize learning outcomes.

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a new initiative to modernise the waste management system in the province. Under the “Smart Waste Management Process”, both public and private educational institutions across Punjab will now be required to install five different coloured waste bins for proper garbage collection.

According to the provincial government, this project will initially be implemented in schools. Senior Minister for Environment and Climate Change Maryam Aurangzeb will oversee the programme, while Education Minister Rana Sikandar and Local Government Minister Zeeshan Malik have been assigned specific targets.

Schools have been given until September 30 to install the bins, with inspections starting from October 1.
