Punjab government to ban actors promoting vulgarity in theatres

Lahore – The Punjab government has decided to impose a lifetime ban on actors who promote vulgarity, immorality, and indecency in theatres. Theatre owners who allow obscene content will also face the cancellation of their licenses.
Azma Bokhari, Punjab’s information minister, strongly criticized the rise of vulgarity in theatres and called it unacceptable. She instructed the Punjab Arts Council to get written promises from theatre owners to ensure they only produce family-friendly content. The government will reopen theatres that have been shut down once they follow these rules.
In a meeting with theatre owners, She said that Punjab’s theatres should focus on producing plays that are family-orientated and promote positive social messages.
“Theatres should be places that attract families and share good values. Anyone promoting vulgarity has no place in our theatre industry,” Bokhari said.
Minister Bokhari assured theatre owners that the government would support those who create wholesome, family-friendly dramas.
