Punjab government has launched the “Nigehban Ramadan” package to support underprivileged families

To support needy families during the holy month of Ramazan, the Punjab government has launched the “Nigahban Ramazan” package. The idea, which aims to assist millions of households, was discussed at a meeting led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The chief minister highlighted the importance of transparency in the distribution process, urging citizens to register for the package by February 15. She highlighted that the Nigahban package is a right of the underprivileged, and it is the government’s responsibility to ensure that people in need receive aid.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz expressed strong disapproval of the traditional method of distributing packages, which often requires people to stand in long queues. She stressed the importance of ensuring that the public receives their entitled support with dignity and respect.
“The administration and relevant authorities should view their work as an act of worship,” the chief minister remarked, underscoring the significance of the initiative in serving those in need.
To be eligible for the package, individuals must register through the Provincial Socio-Economic Survey (PSER). Citizens can complete their registration either online via the PSER portal or through their local union councils. A helpline has also been set up to assist people with the registration process.
