LAHORE – The Punjab government has once again rejected the federal government’s request to release Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, for service at the federal level.

According to sources, the federal government approached the Punjab administration to obtain Dr. Anwar’s services, but the provincial government firmly declined the request. The Punjab government cited its policy of not accepting unwarranted transfers of officers, particularly those who are performing exceptionally well.

This marks the third time the federal government has sought Dr. Usman Anwar’s transfer. However, Punjab authorities reiterated their stance, maintaining that there is no need for a change at this time. “It is true that we have declined to relieve Dr. Usman Anwar,” officials from the Punjab government conveyed to Islamabad.

Dr. Usman Anwar has garnered praise for his performance as IG Punjab, with officials acknowledging his effective leadership and contribution to maintaining law and order in the province.
