Punjab government’s decision to celebrate Basant!

After several years, the Punjab government has decided to allow the celebration of Basant in Lahore, but with strict safety measures and regulations in place to ensure the festival is celebrated safely.

According to sources, the government has formulated important rules and regulations for the safe conduct of Basant.

The most significant restriction is on the use of chemical or glass-coated kite strings (manja). Only cotton thread will be permitted for flying kites, and strict checks will be conducted to prevent the production and sale of dangerous kite strings.

The district administration will regularly monitor markets and kite vendors to ensure compliance with safety rules. Special teams will be formed for this purpose.

During Basant, there is also a possibility of imposing restrictions on motorcycle riding during specific hours to prevent accidents caused by kite strings on the roads.
