Punjab Launches Affordable Housing Project for Low-Income Families

Lahore: The Punjab government has announced an ambitious housing project to provide affordable homes to low-income families across the province. Under the plan, 57,000 low-cost houses will be constructed and offered to citizens on easy installment plans.
According to the spokesperson for the Punjab Housing Department, the initiative aims to provide quality yet affordable housing to deserving families under the supervision of the department.
In the first phase, construction will begin on 20,000 houses at 41 selected locations across Punjab. Government land has already been allocated to the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency for this purpose.
The housing project will feature various designs and sizes in 24 districts. These include 250-square-foot single-story units in 16 districts, 530-square-foot three-story units in five districts, and 550-square-foot four-story apartments in three districts.
The five-year project will also incorporate solar energy systems and rainwater harvesting technology to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Officials confirmed that the initiative will be implemented in collaboration with the World Bank and private sector partners to ensure international construction standards, modern facilities, and transparent oversight.
The spokesperson added that strict quality monitoring will be maintained throughout each phase, ensuring residents have access to all essential amenities and a better living environment.
