Punjab Launches First Veterinary Internship Program for Youth

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the province’s first veterinary internship programme. The initiative aims to provide young veterinary professionals with practical training and strengthen the livestock and dairy sector.
The government has allocated a budget of 600 million rupees for the programme. Under this scheme, one thousand graduates and para-veterinarians will get opportunities to gain hands-on experience.
According to officials, HEC-approved DVM graduates will receive a monthly stipend of 60,000 rupees. Meanwhile, diploma holders and livestock assistants will be paid 40,000 rupees per month. Applications can be submitted through the official Punjab job portal.
The programme also includes special quotas for veterinary assistants, AI technicians, and lab assistants across all 36 districts of Punjab. This ensures equal opportunities for candidates from different regions.
Through this internship, participants will gain field experience and practical skills. They will directly assist farmers and contribute to the development of the livestock and dairy industries.
Officials stressed that the programme will not only benefit youth but also enhance productivity in the agricultural sector. With trained professionals, Punjab hopes to boost growth and ensure sustainable progress in livestock.
