Putin announces temporary ceasefire with Ukraine from May 8 to 10

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine from May 8 to 10, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Russia’s victory in World War II.
According to the Kremlin, the ceasefire is intended to honor Victory Day celebrations, with a major ceremony scheduled for May 10 in Moscow. World leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, are expected to attend.
Russia expressed hope that Ukraine would also observe the ceasefire. However, Ukraine questioned Moscow’s intentions, with its foreign minister stating that if Russia truly seeks peace, it should implement an immediate and unconditional ceasefire instead of waiting until May 8.
Previously, a similar ceasefire was announced by Russia during Easter, but both sides accused each other of multiple violations.
