Qatar Introduces QAR 24,000 Allowance for Married Couples
Doha: Qatar has announced significant reforms to its Civil Human Resources Law aimed at promoting family welfare, stability, and improving public sector performance.

According to Qatar News Agency, the reforms were issued under Law No. 25 of 2025 by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Among the key changes is the introduction of a marital allowance for Qatari married couples — QAR 12,000 annually for each spouse, totaling QAR 24,000 per couple.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to create a supportive work environment, strengthen national human capital, and ensure social and family cohesion within the workforce.

These amendments revise Law No. 15 of 2016 and are supported by Cabinet Decision No. 34 of 2025, which updates executive regulations tied to civil service laws.

Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau and Secretary-General of the National Planning Council, described the reforms as a step toward “balanced legislative development” that aims to secure a stable and prosperous future for Qatari citizens working in the public sector.
