Major progress has been made regarding the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ program

Lahore (July 20, 2025) — In a major step toward low-income housing, the Punjab government and the Bank of Punjab (BOP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide interest-free loans under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative.
The signing ceremony was attended by Punjab Housing Minister Bilal Yasin and President of the Bank of Punjab Zafar Masud, while PHAATA Director General Sikandar Zeeshan and Umar Khan formally signed the agreement.
Speaking at the event, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin announced that the Bank of Punjab will exclusively manage housing loan disbursements during the fiscal year 2025–26. He added that to meet annual targets efficiently, proposals from Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) have also been approved.
Bilal Yasin revealed that so far, over 52,000 beneficiaries have received Rs60 billion in interest-free home loans under the scheme. He further noted that Rs900 million has already been recovered through monthly installments.
“In August, an additional Rs10 billion will be disbursed among eligible applicants,” he said.
Punjab Housing Secretary Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said the government aims to construct over 100,000 homes across the province. He assured the public that the loan application process has been simplified to ensure wider accessibility and transparency.
