Relief Checks for Flood Victims Starting October 17 Announced

The Punjab government has approved giving relief checks for flood victims starting October 17. This decision was made in a meeting led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The government has prepared a final relief package to help those affected by the recent floods.

According to the plan, families of people who died in the floods will receive 1 million rupees. People with permanent disabilities will get 500,000 rupees, and those with minor injuries will get 300,000 rupees as financial help.

The government will also provide money for damaged homes. For fully destroyed brick houses, victims will get 1 million rupees, and for partially damaged brick houses, 300,000 rupees. For fully damaged mud houses, 500,000 rupees will be given, and for partially damaged mud houses, 150,000 rupees will be provided.

Additionally, farmers will get 20,000 rupees per acre for losing 25% of their crops. The government will also forgive agricultural taxes in 2,855 villages in Punjab. Money will be given for the death of large animals (up to 500,000 rupees) and small animals (up to 50,000 rupees). Civil defense volunteers who helped during the floods will get an increase of 15,000 rupees in their salaries.

To sum up, the Punjab government has approved relief checks for flood victims starting October 17, ensuring support for all affected people. They also made clear that no construction will be allowed in river flood zones to protect the area.
