Robot housekeepers
The dream of having robot housekeepers to handle daily chores could become a reality within the next five to ten years, according to leading experts in artificial intelligence and robotics.

Engineers at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are developing humanoid robots equipped with AI to clean, tidy up, and even prepare food. These advanced machines are expected to be designed in a way that allows them to function efficiently in human-centric environments.

Professor Pulkit Agrawal, a renowned computer scientist at MIT, explained the potential tasks these robots could perform, stating, “They could check if doors are locked, fetch newspapers, load and unload laundry, arrange items in the kitchen and bedroom, put dishes in the dishwasher, and even chop vegetables.”

Although the first generation of these robotic housekeepers is expected to be priced between £16,000 and £40,000, similar to the cost of a family car, experts believe they could become more affordable over time as technology advances.

MIT researchers are already working on pressure-sensitive fingers to ensure robots can grasp objects without crushing them. Additionally, AI-powered systems are being developed to enable these machines to adapt to various home environments and different ways of completing tasks.

With rapid advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence, experts believe that these futuristic helpers could soon become a common sight in households, transforming the way people manage everyday chores.
