In a recent announcement, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has decided to abolish the Saturday holiday in all educational institutions across Islamabad. The change will be implemented from November 30, 2024, until February 1, 2025, as per a notification issued by the FDE on Friday.

The decision comes in response to disruptions in academic activities caused by recent closures of educational institutions. The notification emphasised that the closure of schools and colleges hurt the regular academic schedule, prompting the FDE to cancel the Saturday holiday to ensure that education continues smoothly.

This temporary measure will affect all schools and colleges under the FDE’s jurisdiction. The adjusted schedule aims to for lost academic time and maintain continuity in the educational process during this period.

The FDE has not linked the cancellation of the Saturday holiday to any specific events, but the move comes amid ongoing efforts to address the impact of interruptions in educational activities. The revised schedule will be in effect until February 2025, after which the Saturday holiday will be reinstated unless further changes are announced.

Students, parents, and teachers are advised to adhere to the new schedule and adjust accordingly to ensure a smooth continuation of academic activities.
