Saudi Arabia Lifts Temporary Ban on Short-Term Visas for Hajj 2025 Pilgrims

In a significant development for Hajj 2025 preparations, Saudi Arabia has lifted a temporary suspension on short-term visas that had affected pilgrims from 14 countries, including Pakistan. The ban was initially implemented as part of crowd control measures aimed at ensuring safety and managing the flow of millions of pilgrims expected to participate in this year’s pilgrimage.

The restriction was introduced earlier this season to curb unauthorised pilgrimages and prevent overcrowding, which has remained a major concern for Saudi authorities, especially during peak Hajj days in Makkah and surrounding holy sites.

Pilgrims from Pakistan, one of the largest contributors to the annual Hajj, can now resume preparations and travel under valid short-term and Umrah-related visas. The decision to lift the ban was reportedly made after revised crowd management protocols were successfully put in place and coordination with several governments was enhanced.

Travel agents and Hajj mission officials have welcomed the move, stating it will help streamline last-minute travel arrangements and allow more flexibility for legitimate pilgrims.

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have reiterated that while the visa suspension has been lifted, strict compliance with Hajj regulations remains mandatory. Unauthorised or unregistered pilgrims will still be denied access to the holy sites during the Hajj days.
