The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 2,477 new companies in October 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country’s corporate landscape. This brings the total number of companies registered in Pakistan to 233,587, highlighting the growing confidence in the country’s business environment.

A large part of this success can be attributed to the SECP’s ongoing digital transformation. The commission reported that 99 percent of the new registrations were processed through its efficient online platform, underscoring its commitment to providing a seamless, tech-driven regulatory environment that promotes transparency and ease of doing business in Pakistan.

According to a press release issued by the SECP on Thursday, the majority of new registrations were private limited companies, accounting for 57 percent of the total, while single-member companies made up 41 percent. The remaining 2 percent included public unlisted companies, not-for-profit organisations, trade organisations, and limited liability partnerships (LLPs).

The SECP also highlighted the strong sectoral growth, particularly in information technology and e-commerce, which saw the largest increase with 556 new companies. The services sector followed closely with 486 new companies, while the trading sector recorded 388 new companies. Additionally, the real estate development and construction sectors saw 270 new companies registered.
