Senior PPP Leader Agha Siraj Durrani Passes Away

KARACHI – Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani, has passed away in Karachi after being admitted for several days at a private hospital. He was battling a prolonged illness, according to family sources.

The body of Agha Siraj Durrani will be transported to his native district Shikarpur, where his funeral will take place. Party supporters, political figures, and citizens from across Sindh are expected to attend the last rites.

President Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the PPP, expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of the senior leader. In a heartfelt message, President Zardari praised Durrani for his unwavering dedication to democratic values and his enduring contributions to the party and the province of Sindh.

“Agha Siraj Durrani played a prominent role in the promotion of democratic values. His services will be remembered for generations,” President Zardari stated in his condolence message.

President Zardari also extended his heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed profound grief over Durrani’s demise. Speaking to the media, he described the late leader as “a sincere, faithful, and principled member of the Pakistan People’s Party” who always stood by the party during difficult times.
