Dubai — Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi has made a remarkable return to the top of the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings, replacing South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj as the number-one bowler. Afridi’s rise comes after an outstanding performance during Pakistan’s recent series win against Australia in Perth.

Pakistan, under the leadership of newly-appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan, secured an impressive 2-1 series victory over Australia, marking their first series win in Australia since 2002. Despite losing the opening match by two wickets, Pakistan bounced back strongly, clinching the final two games to take the series.

Afridi played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s success, taking eight wickets across three matches at a remarkable average of 12.62. His dominant performance, including key breakthroughs throughout the series, contributed significantly to Pakistan’s triumph and saw him move up three places in the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings, reclaiming the number one position.

Afridi’s achievement underscores his continued excellence as a fast bowler, and his top ranking further cements his reputation as one of the best bowlers in the world. His efforts have not only earned him individual accolades but have also helped Pakistan secure a memorable series win Down Under.
