Sharjeel Memon Announces Flood Relief Efforts in Sindh

Senior Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, stated that a high-level flood is ongoing at the Guddu Barrage, while a medium-level flood is reported at the Sukkur Barrage. He further explained that the provincial government is closely monitoring the situation at all barrages and is fully engaged in rescue, relief, and recovery operations to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property.

In his press statement, Sharjeel Memon mentioned that a high-level flood is currently affecting the Panjnad area, where the upstream and downstream flow is recorded at 402,919 cusecs. At Guddu Barrage, the upstream flow is 612,269 cusecs, and the downstream flow is 582,942 cusecs. At Sukkur Barrage, the upstream flow is 488,820 cusecs, and the downstream flow is 438,390 cusecs. Meanwhile, at Kotri Barrage, the upstream flow is 274,129 cusecs, and the downstream flow is 261,399 cusecs.

He further added that in the last 24 hours, 5,269 people have been moved to safer places, bringing the total number of displaced individuals to 163,364. Additionally, 252 people from the kacha (riverine) areas have been shifted to relief camps, making the total number of people in the relief camps 469.

Sharjeel Memon also mentioned that the Sindh government has set up 177 fixed and mobile health sites, where 6,596 patients were treated in the last 24 hours. To date, a total of 84,118 patients have received medical services. Furthermore, 11,569 livestock were relocated to safe areas, bringing the total number of relocated animals to 438,835. Additionally, 51,308 animals were vaccinated and treated in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of treated animals to 1,232,223.
