Various observatories across Saudi cities held meetings to attempt sighting the Shawwal moon. Officials also requested citizens to report any sightings, but no credible reports were received from anywhere in the country.
The Saudi Supreme Court reviewed all reports from observatories and Hilal sighting committees before making an official announcement. They confirmed that Ramadan 1447 Hijri would be completed in full, and Eid al-Fitr 2026 would be celebrated on March 20.

Similarly, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar also announced that Eid al-Fitr will be observed on Friday, March 20, 2026. With the Shawwal moon not sighted in these countries, the official declaration ensures that Eid al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia 2026 aligns with the celebrations in neighboring Gulf nations.
