Shubman Gill Fined INR 1.2 Million for Slow Over Rate in IPL 2025

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill has been fined INR 1.2 million for maintaining a slow over rate during their recent match against Delhi Capitals.
Despite Gujarat Titans securing a 7-wicket victory in the game, the team was found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct under Article 2.22, which deals with over-rate offences. As this was Gill’s first offence of the season, the minimum fine was imposed.
During the match, Gujarat Titans were also allowed to field four players outside the inner circle in the 20th over—an indication of their failure to bowl their overs within the stipulated time.
Thanks to this win, Gujarat Titans have climbed to the top of the points table, leading on net run rate, despite having equal points (10) with Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.
Earlier in the season, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant also faced a similar penalty. He was fined INR 1.2 million for a slow over rate during the 16th match of IPL 2025 against the Mumbai Indians.
