Sindh announces public holiday on April 4 to honour Zulfikar Ali Bhutto

The Sindh government has declared April 4 a public holiday to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

 

According to an official notification, the holiday will apply to all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government. However, departments engaged in essential services will remain operational.

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Honoured with Pakistan’s Highest Civil Award

A day before the announcement, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred Pakistan’s highest civil award, Nishan-i-Pakistan (posthumous), upon Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his exceptional contributions to the country, democracy, and public service. The award was received by his daughter, Sanam Bhutto, during an investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

During the ceremony, 69 distinguished personalities were recognised for their contributions to health, education, literature, journalism, research, diplomacy, and economy. The event was attended by federal ministers, the Chairman of the Senate, parliamentarians, diplomats, media representatives, and civil society members.
