Sindh Government Announces Province-Wide Ban on Plastic Bags

In a major step towards environmental protection, the Sindh government has decided to impose a complete ban on the manufacturing, sale, and use of plastic bags across the province, including Karachi.
According to the Sindh Environment Department, the decision will come into effect following formal approval from the provincial cabinet scheduled for April 15, 2025. Once approved, the ban will be implemented throughout Sindh, targeting all types of polythene bags.
The department has warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators of the ban. Offenders could face prosecution, arrest, and financial penalties under the new environmental regulations.
