South Africa Clinches Historic Victory to Become ICC World Test Champion

LORD’S: A new chapter has been written in the history of Test cricket as South Africa secured their maiden ICC World Test Championship title with an impressive win over Australia at Lord’s.
Chasing a target of 282 runs, South Africa achieved victory with five wickets in hand. The star of the match was Aiden Markram, who played a brilliant innings of 136 runs, guiding his team to a memorable triumph. He was well-supported by captain Temba Bavuma, who contributed a solid 66 runs and remained unbeaten on 19 to finish the match.
Earlier, openers Wiaan Mulder and Ryan Rickelton scored 27 and 6 runs, respectively, before falling to Mitchell Starc, who was Australia’s standout bowler in the second innings.
Australia, who had set the target, struggled in their second innings and were bowled out for just 207 runs. Mitchell Starc made a valuable contribution of 58 runs to give his team some hope.
South Africa’s bowling unit was outstanding, with Kagiso Rabada taking four crucial wickets. Lungi Ngidi claimed three, while Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder picked up one wicket each.
