Sri Lanka Hits 225 Against Oman in T20 Match

Sri Lanka posted the highest score of the ongoing T20 World Cup in their match against Oman on Thursday. They scored 225-5 in 20 overs at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. All top-order batsmen attacked Oman’s bowlers aggressively and scored freely. Kusal Mendis was the top scorer with 61, supported by Pavan Rathnayake’s 60, captain Dasun Shanaka’s 50, and Kamindu Mendis’ 19.
Captain Dasun Shanaka scored his half-century off just 19 balls, setting the record for the fastest T20 fifty by a Sri Lankan batsman. His aggressive innings gave Sri Lanka a strong start and momentum for the total score. Oman struggled to contain the batsmen despite some early breakthroughs by their bowlers.
For Oman, Jitenkumar Ramanandi took two wickets, while Jay Odedara and Sufyan Mehmood claimed one wicket each. Earlier, Oman won the toss and elected to field, hoping to exploit slight moisture in the pitch. Oman captain Jatinder Singh said they rarely get opportunities against Test-playing nations, making this a valuable experience.

Oman made two changes to their side, bringing in Jay Odedara and Mohammad Nadeem. Singh said these adjustments would help strengthen their performance against a strong Sri Lankan batting lineup. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka made a key change by replacing their champion bowler Hasaranga with Hemantha, as confirmed by Shanaka.
The match highlighted Sri Lanka’s batting depth and aggressive strategy. Their high total sets a challenging target for Oman in the second innings. Fans and experts praised Shanaka and the top order for dominating the game. The game continues to attract attention as part of the ICC T20 World Cup.
