Polio Vaccination Campaign 2026 Reaches Over 42 Million Children

ISLAMABAD – The first national polio immunization campaign of 2026 has entered its fifth day. Over 42.2 million children have been vaccinated across Pakistan in the past four days. The campaign is running simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan, aiming to eliminate polio from the region.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), provincial authorities are actively participating in the vaccination drive. Punjab reported more than 22.4 million children vaccinated, Sindh over 9.58 million, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 6.76 million. Balochistan recorded nearly 2.06 million children vaccinated, while Islamabad reached over 454,000.
Additionally, more than 261,000 children in Gilgit-Baltistan received polio drops. In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, over 673,000 children were immunized. The campaign covers every province and territory to ensure no child is missed.

Over 400,000 polio workers are participating nationwide. They go door-to-door to reach children in remote and urban areas. Their efforts aim to vaccinate every eligible child and prevent future outbreaks.
Health officials urged parents to cooperate and ensure their children receive the vaccine. They emphasized that polio vaccination is safe, free, and crucial for the nation’s health. The campaign demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating polio and protecting children from this debilitating disease.
