Suicide Bomber in Bajaur Attack Identified as Afghan National

Authorities have identified the suicide bomber behind the February 16, 2026 Bajaur attack as Ahmad, also known as Qari Abdullah Abu Zar. He was a resident of Balkh province in Afghanistan. Ahmad reportedly served in the Taliban’s Special Forces before joining terrorist operations. The attack killed 11 security personnel and two civilians. The October 2025 attack on Islamabad’s judicial complex and the FC Headquarters assault in Peshawar involved Afghan perpetrators. These patterns indicate a consistent cross-border threat.

Captured militants, including Nematullah from South Waziristan, also hailed from Kandahar province. Analysts note that Afghanistan has become a base for planning attacks inside Pakistan.
