Terror Attack in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan Leaves Policeman
A policeman was killed in a terrorist attack in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan, Iranian media reported on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Saravan when militants attempted to storm a police station.

Security forces quickly responded to the assault, preventing further casualties among officers.

According to the Tasnim news agency, the attackers were linked to Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni jihadist group active in the region.

Three terrorists were killed during the clash, while two others were arrested.

Officials confirmed that the situation was brought under control after the exchange of gunfire.

Sistan-Baluchistan shares a long border with Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The province has a history of unrest, with frequent clashes involving security forces, insurgents, and smugglers.

Its population includes a significant Baloch ethnic minority, who practise Sunni Islam in Shiite-majority Iran.

The attack comes just weeks after gunmen stormed a courthouse in Zahedan, the provincial capital.

That July 26 assault killed at least six people.

Jaish al-Adl later claimed responsibility for the courthouse attack.

Security tensions in Sistan-Baluchistan remain high due to repeated armed incidents.

In October, ten police officers were killed in one of the deadliest attacks in the province.

Authorities have since increased security measures in key areas.
