Trump Administration Freezes Funds for Democratic States During Shutdown

During the U.S. government shutdown, the Trump administration froze funds worth $26 billion meant for Democratic-led states. The largest portion of the frozen funds, around $18 billion, was set aside for infrastructure projects in New York.
In addition, $8 billion for green energy projects in states like California and Illinois has also been stopped. According to Trump officials, these projects are considered “non-essential” during the shutdown.

Democratic leaders called this decision political revenge. They say Trump is targeting important development and environmental projects just because these states are led by Democrats.
Experts warn that stopping these projects could delay public transport improvements and harm environmental goals. It could also lead to job losses for thousands of workers involved in these plans.

As the shutdown continues, key government departments like NASA remain closed, and over 750,000 federal workers have been sent home without pay. The impact of the frozen funds is expected to grow if the shutdown is not resolved soon.
