President Donald Trump declared a public safety emergency in Washington, D.C.. He gave control of the D.C. police to Attorney General Pam Bondi. The president made the announcement during a press conference at the White House. He said 800 National Guard troops would be deployed to the capital. The goal, he explained, is to restore order and ensure public safety.

Trump accused violent groups and dangerous criminals of taking over the city. He said lawlessness must be stopped immediately. He warned that he would send the U.S. military if necessary. Defence Secretary Heegst stated that additional National Guard units could be brought in from outside the city. Officials emphasised that these measures aim to protect citizens quickly.

The president expressed disappointment with the current state of Washington. He described the city as dirty and neglected. He criticised graffiti on walls and potholes in streets as shameful. He promised to make the city beautiful again. He linked the decline of the city to rising crime rates.

Earlier, Trump had ordered the removal of homeless people from the capital. He declared that Washington D.C. would be free from crime and disorder. He pledged to eliminate violent and immoral elements. He called the day “the liberation of D.C.” He also promised to expand the crackdown across the country.

The decision sparked protests near the White House. Many residents gathered to oppose the emergency order and the removal of homeless people. Protesters accused the government of targeting vulnerable groups. They demanded that the measures be reversed. Tensions remain high as authorities and citizens stand firm in their positions.
