Trump praises Pakistan, says he prevented war with India

Washington – The U.S. President Donald Trump praised Pakistan, saying: “I really like Pakistan and its people — they are very good people.”

Speaking to the media, Trump claimed he intervened to stop a potential war between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India: “Tensions between the two countries have escalated dangerously. I stepped in and helped prevent a major conflict.”

He acknowledged Pakistan’s vital role in the fight against terrorism and reiterated his past stance of calling Pakistan a “friend of the United States.”

Trump also offered to mediate on the Kashmir issue and praised the wisdom of Pakistan’s military and political leadership.

According to South Asian experts, Pakistan gained a level of U.S. diplomatic trust that India could not achieve despite its billion-dollar trade relations with Washington.
