Trump Urges Modi to Avoid War with Pakistan

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump revealed that he advised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to avoid conflict with Pakistan during a recent conversation.
Speaking at a Diwali event at the White House, Trump explained that he had a detailed discussion with Modi, emphasizing the importance of peace and trade in reducing tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
“I told them there should be no wars with Pakistan,” Trump said. He highlighted how economic ties can help prevent conflicts, adding, “The fact that trade was involved allowed me to encourage peace.”
Trump recalled a past incident during the India-Pakistan conflict when seven planes were shot down. “I called both countries and warned that the United States would halt trade with them if they went to war. Within 24 hours, they decided not to fight,” he said.
The US president also mentioned his role in ending eight wars globally, stating that many were resolved through trade negotiations.
In addition, Trump claimed that India would stop buying oil from Russia.
When asked about China, Trump said he plans to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the coming weeks to address various issues. “I have many matters to discuss with President Xi, and I am confident I will do a good job,” he added.
