Meta has agreed to pay U.S. President Donald Trump $25 million to settle a lawsuit he filed in 2021, challenging his ban from Facebook and Instagram after the January 6 Capitol riot.

According to The Wall Street Journal, $22 million of the settlement will go toward funding Trump’s future presidential library. At the same time, the remaining amount will cover legal fees and payments to other plaintiffs.

Despite settling, Meta has not admitted to any wrongdoing in suspending Trump’s accounts. This marks a major resolution in a case that stemmed from Trump’s controversial posts after the Capitol attack.

Since then, Trump has attempted to rebuild relations with tech leaders like Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and X owner Elon Musk.
