UAE Announces New Driving License and Learning Permit Fees

The UAE Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new fees for driving licenses and learning permits across all vehicle types.

According to Arab media, learning permit fees for motorcycles, light vehicles, and light automatic vehicles are now set at AED 100. For heavy buses, mechanical equipment, and heavy vehicles, the learning permit fee is AED 200.

Applicants must pay AED 200 for opening a traffic file and AED 50 for the Safe Driving Guide. Eye test fees range between AED 140 and AED 180, depending on the provider.

Additionally, all applicants must pay AED 20 for innovation and knowledge charges, regardless of vehicle type or age.

For issuing a driving license, applicants under 21 years will pay AED 100. Those aged 21 and above must pay AED 300, including innovation fees.

If an applicant wants to switch from manual to automatic transmission or vice versa, an extra AED 200 plus AED 20 innovation charge will be applied.
