US Airstrike on Yemeni Oil Port Kills 38, Over 100 Injured

A U.S. airstrike on Yemen’s Ras Issa oil terminal has reportedly killed at least 38 people and injured more than 100, according to local sources and Houthi officials.
The attack, which took place on Thursday, targeted the strategic oil facility located in western Yemen. Houthi authorities claim that all casualties were port workers present at the time of the strike.
A spokesperson for the Houthi Ministry of Health condemned the attack, stating that 38 workers lost their lives while 102 others sustained injuries due to what they called “American aggression”.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), the U.S. Central Command confirmed the airstrike, noting that the operation aimed to disrupt the Houthis’ fuel supply lines. The statement emphasised that the strike was designed to target the economic resources used by the group, not the civilian population of Yemen.
“The goal of this operation was to limit the Houthis’ access to fuel and financial assets used to support their military activities,” the CENTCOM statement read.
This latest strike comes amid a continued series of air operations by the U.S. in Houthi-controlled regions of Yemen, which have seen daily attacks in recent weeks.
