Visitors to Masjid al-Nabawi advised to bring prayer mats amid rain forecast

Medina: The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has advised visitors to Masjid al-Nabawi to bring their own prayer mats for prayers, considering the current weather conditions in Medina.
According to a report by the Saudi news agency, the administration of Masjid al-Nabawi has decided to remove prayer rugs from the open courtyards and corridors of the mosque to protect them from rain.
The administration has urged worshippers to carry their prayer mats so they can pray comfortably if they find space in the mosque’s outer courtyards.
The National Centre for Meteorology has forecast rain and hailstorms in various regions, including Qassim, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Mecca, Medina, Tabuk, and Al-Jawf.
During the holy month of Ramadan, a large number of worshippers gather at Masjid al-Nabawi for Taraweeh prayers, often filling the mosque’s interior and spilling into the outdoor courtyards. Normally, prayer rugs are provided in these areas, but they are removed during rainy weather to prevent damage.
Meanwhile, the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques reported that 5,032,169 visitors attended prayers at Masjid al-Nabawi in the past week alone.
