West Indies and South Africa have received confirmation for their flights home from India. Both teams have been in Kolkata since their T20 World Cup exits last week. They will depart in the early hours of Tuesday, March 10, on a charter flight to Johannesburg. West Indies will continue onward to Antigua from there.
Earlier, both sides had expected to leave on Sunday, March 8, but travel was delayed. Confirmation of the new date came late Sunday afternoon. Changing airspace restrictions in West Asia caused uncertainty in scheduling. These delays affected both players and management, creating frustration in the camps.

West Indies have been in Kolkata since losing to India in the Super Eight on March 1. South Africa remained after their semi-final defeat to New Zealand on March 4. West Indies coach Daren Sammy expressed frustration on X. Several South African players, including Quinton de Kock and David Miller, voiced concerns on Instagram.

Reports of a West Indies charter flight circulated on Thursday but did not materialize. The confirmation came after a “high-level call” involving CWI, team management, and players’ representatives. Travel arrangements remained complex due to security and airspace restrictions in the Gulf region.

Meanwhile, the England team left Mumbai on Saturday evening, traveling directly to London. Unlike West Indies and South Africa, their departure was unaffected by airspace restrictions.
