62,500 Homes Built Under ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’

LAHORE – Over 62,500 homes have been built in Punjab under the ‘Apni Chat Apna Ghar’ scheme, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The programme aims to provide affordable housing to low-income families across the province. According to a government spokesperson, this achievement sets a new record in Pakistan’s public housing sector.
The government had earlier announced plans to build over 3,000 homes in every district of Punjab. In just six months, the project has made historic progress, combining quality construction with fast execution.
The initiative has raised new standards for public housing and set an example for the rest of the country.
Interest-free loans worth over Rs. 74 billion were disbursed to help people build 5 to 10 marla homes. More than 37,000 families have received both loan tranches. Impressively, the recovery rate stands at 99.9%, showing strong public trust and responsibility in repaying loans.
Currently, over 52,000 homes are still under construction. CM Maryam Nawaz promised to deliver 100,000 homes annually through the scheme. Authorities expect to meet this ambitious target by December this year, continuing rapid construction across Punjab.
Today, a new phase of the project will be launched at Expo Centre Lahore. This time, the Punjab government will provide land and oversee home construction directly. The next stage of development promises even faster progress, further easing the housing crisis for low-income families.
