Future of crypto in Pakistan: Finance Minister’s key prediction

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has urged Pakistan to take a forward-thinking approach toward digital assets like cryptocurrency to boost the digital economy.
Speaking at the Pakistan Banking Summit 2025, he acknowledged that crypto is already traded in informal markets and stressed the need for proper regulations to keep up with global AI and digital banking.
Aurangzeb shared insights from a recent conference in Saudi Arabia, where many emerging markets discussed their digital transformation efforts. He emphasised that Pakistan must also adapt to these changes.
While the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is responsible for crypto regulations, the minister believes an open-minded approach is necessary for financial progress.
