TikTok Ban Delayed, President Trump to Issue New Executive Order Soon

Washington: The White House has announced that President Donald Trump will sign a new executive order extending the deadline for a TikTok ban by 90 days.

According to Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt, this marks the third time the TikTok ban has been delayed due to setbacks in reaching a potential separation agreement with China-based company ByteDance.

CBS News reported that the U.S. government continues to view TikTok as a national security threat. However, President Trump has made it clear that he does not wish to shut down the app but instead seeks a deal that would ensure the protection of American user data.

Caroline Leavitt stated that the administration is actively working to finalise this agreement to allow TikTok’s continued operation in the U.S.

Meanwhile, the Justice Department has been instructed not to take any action against Apple and Google for their failure to remove TikTok from their platforms so far.
