Pakistan’s befitting reply to India at the UN

New York (September 27, 2025): Pakistan’s representative at the United Nations, Saima Saleem, has accused India of systematic discrimination against minorities, saying that freedom of worship is being denied in the country.
Speaking at the UN, Saleem reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and “has never been part of India.” She criticized New Delhi’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a violation of international law.
The Pakistani diplomat said that oppression of minorities has become a state policy in India. “Minorities are being suppressed, and their right to practice religion freely is not respected,” she remarked.
Referring to past violence, Saleem recalled the Gujarat riots, describing them as a tragic episode that the world still remembers as an example of brutality, where thousands of Muslims lost their lives.
She further stated that Islamophobia is being normalized in Indian politics and media, while cross-border violence is being encouraged through proxy groups to destabilize the region.
