Balochistan completes Levies-Police merger

The merger of the Levies Force into the Balochistan Police has been completed, marking a significant step toward strengthening law enforcement and improving security management across the province.
The integration process began in 2025 and was successfully finalized in June 2026. During this period, Levies personnel were gradually incorporated into the police force through a phased transition aimed at creating a unified security structure throughout Balochistan.
According to officials, staff members serving in the Directorate General Levies office and various zonal directorates have also been directed to report to the police department under the new administrative framework. In total, 32,942 Levies personnel have been absorbed into the provincial police force as part of the restructuring process.
With the completion of the merger, the longstanding division between A Areas and B Areas in Balochistan has been abolished. Previously, policing responsibilities were divided between the police and Levies forces depending on geographic jurisdiction. Under the new arrangement, responsibility for maintaining law and order across the province will now fall entirely under the police department.
Officials believe the move will improve coordination, streamline administrative procedures, and enhance the overall effectiveness of security operations. The unified command structure is expected to facilitate quicker responses to public concerns and strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
The Inspector General of Balochistan Police stated that resolving citizens’ issues in a timely and merit-based manner remains a top priority. He added that the inclusion of Levies personnel would further strengthen the force’s operational capacity and professional capabilities.
Authorities have described the merger as a positive development that will contribute to better governance, improved public service delivery, and enhanced security throughout the province. The integration is also expected to provide citizens with a more efficient and accessible law enforcement system while supporting broader efforts to maintain peace and stability in Balochistan.
