Shahid Afridi set to represent Pakistan once again

Former captain and legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi will return to action in the IMC Over-40s T20 World Cup 2025. The tournament will take place in Karachi from November 21 to December 1. His participation was officially confirmed by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) on Wednesday.
Afridi, known for his explosive batting and effective leg-spin, is expected to bring star power and excitement to the veterans’ competition. Fans around the world eagerly anticipate seeing him back in the Pakistan jersey. His aggressive style and charisma have made him one of cricket’s most recognizable figures.
The former captain has played over 500 international matches for Pakistan. He scored 11,196 runs and took 541 wickets across all formats. His vast experience will be a huge asset for the Over-40s team. Afridi’s presence also adds motivation for younger and veteran players alike.
Pakistan’s Over-40s squad will be led by former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq. Legendary batsman Javed Miandad will mentor the team. The combination of experience, skill, and leadership forms a strong and competitive lineup. The complete squad will be announced in the coming days.
The IMC Over-40s T20 World Cup 2025 will feature 12 international teams. A total of 42 matches are scheduled across Karachi. The tournament promises thrilling cricket and global attention.

Earlier, Indian players refused to play a round match against Pakistan, citing political tensions. Indian politician Arvind Sawant also suggested avoiding matches with Pakistan. These actions sparked strong reactions from cricket fans and players on both sides. The tension carried into the tournament, adding more drama to the high-stakes clash.
Speaking at a local restaurant in Birmingham, Afridi mocked India’s stance during a media talk. His humorous take triggered laughter from those present. He proudly noted that Pakistan’s senior players had still made it to the semi-final despite their age. Afridi insisted that India would have no choice but to play, whether they liked it or not.
