Russian Drone Strike

Russian drones and missiles attacked multiple districts of Kyiv early on Saturday, killing one person and injuring 11 others. Explosions and falling debris caused several fires in the Ukrainian capital. This is the second attack on Kyiv in four days, following a deadly strike on Tuesday. Seven people died during that previous assault. Emergency services rushed to the affected areas to control fires and assist victims.

Kyiv’s military administration reported strikes at six locations across the city, targeting apartment buildings and residential areas. One resident’s body was recovered from the rubble of a burning apartment. A child was rescued from the same building, authorities said. Fires also broke out in a high-rise west of the city center. Another fire in the central district was quickly brought under control.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that emergency crews worked to extinguish fires and evacuate residents. Streets were covered with debris, and damaged buildings were left unsafe for habitation. The military administration warned residents to remain vigilant and follow safety instructions during the air raid alert. Rescue and firefighting operations continued throughout the morning.

A new air raid alert was issued for incoming drones after 5 a.m. local time. Residents were urged to seek shelter immediately. The authorities stressed the importance of staying indoors until the all-clear was announced. Kyiv remains under high alert due to ongoing Russian attacks in recent weeks.

The latest strike underscores the persistent threat to Ukraine’s capital from drone and missile attacks. Officials continue to document casualties and assess property damage. International observers condemned the attacks and called for protection of civilians. Kyiv’s residents face continued disruption and danger as the conflict continues.
